Cedo se tornou um icone da wwf e atingiu o pico qd venceu o Bret Hart na wrestlemania XII num B-R-U-T-A-L Iron Match de 60 minutos e tornou-se pela primeira vez WWF Champion. Foi tb o primeiro a entrar no spot number 1 na royal rumble de 95 e vencer(feito só repetido por Chris Benoit).

Foi ele tb que venceu Bret Hart nakele controverso combate no Survivor Series 97, mais conhecido por Montreal Screwjob.

Após um combate em 98 contra o Undertaker,foi obrigado a retirar-se por causa duma lesao nas costas. Em 2002, regressa em pleno e começa uma feud espectacular entre Triple H e ele(antigos membros da D-GenerationX) e culmina com a Elimination Chamber de 2002 em que HBK volta a ser campeao.
